JUST THE FACTS
Clay: English porcelain and various stoneware clays. Local clays from my island to mix in the clay body and for slips and glazes. For the next firing: two new clay bodies mixed from raw materials.
Primary forming methods: Throwing and hand Building.
Primary firing temperature: Cone 11 reached in 24 hours in my two chamber wood kiln. In the second chamber I salt glaze, using approx. 4 kilos of salt introduced during three hours.
Favorite surface treatment: I love to brush a quick thick brushstroke of white slip onto dark rough stoneware clay. Sometimes it leaves a beautiful mark. No more needs to be said.
Favorite tools: My wheel and a wooden throwing stick found on the beach. Also I spent a whole summer some years ago, selling fish to be able to buy myself a pug mill. I would do it all over again for my wonderful de-airing pug mill!
